In recent years waistbands have become lower and lower on men. No longer do we see jeans pulled up high around the waist, unless you are Simon Cowell, and no longer do belts seem to be used for keeping your jeans up; they seem to be an accessory rather than a necessity. But when is it too low and when is it too high?
It has become quite fashionable for younger men to allow their boxers to be seen so their jeans are hanging by a thread off their bottoms, so jeans designers are accommodating this by producing jeans that are purposefully made to be worn lower than the hips.
In particular the G-Star RAW Scuba 5620 loose tapered jeans are worn lower than normal and also have features that makes them look they are being worn even lower than they are. These features are pockets as low as the knees and a large long baggy crotch that almost meets these pockets. This drop crotch actually looks quite stylish and attractive. Perhaps there is not a limit to how low your jeans appear if they are a clever design ploy and are in fact higher on your hips than you are letting on.
Nearly all of these sit comfortably on the hips and leave some things to the imagination!
The G-Star RAW 3301 Bootcut Mens Jeans. They are a classic cut with the traditional five pocket system which includes the tiny coin pocket on the inside of one of the front pockets. They are worn just above the hip line with a traditional waistband providing room for a fashionable belt if wanted or needed. The bootcut cut adds shape to your look and appears classy and slightly more formal.
To decide which is best is perhaps not possible as the two different styles are so different. In any genre of fashion you need options as people are inclined to go for polar opposites. So there is possibly not a limit to how low or high you wear your jeans, except perhaps if they have fallen round your ankles or you have a belt tied up around your ribs!
